Mrs Lucy Nilsson, Teacher

As a graduate, I started teaching upper primary school children in 2004. When given the chance to experience pre-primary, I found I absolutely loved it and completed a Graduate Certificate in Early Childhood Education. I have since taught in public and private schools in WA and QLD and at an inspirational Nursery School in London. Additionally, I trained in the International Baccalaureate, which focuses on inquiry learning and children discovering for themselves.

I am inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to learning and make the Spring Road Community Kindergarten environment inviting and aesthetically pleasing, with a focus on natural elements and lots of art exploration. I am interested in aspects of both Waldorf/Steiner and Montessori education systems and the philosophies and techniques adopted by Bold Park Community School.

I am passionate about play-based, inquiry learning and love the curiosity and enthusiasm of young children. I believe children should be able to learn at their own pace and not have formal learning “pushed down” too soon. I aim to implement the Department of Education’s compulsory curriculum guidelines and frameworks through play and fun experiences. I follow and develop the children’s interests and inspire each child to wonder and ask questions about their world.

I am now blessed to be in the position to give my Kindergarten children the freedom to play and discover in their own time, without the limitations of a school siren, as part of my dream job teaching at Spring Road Community Kindergarten! I am privileged to be part of this vital stage of each child’s learning and developmental journey and to be invited into their wonderings.

Mrs Erica Moore, Education Assistant

I have been dedicated to early childhood since my teens, starting my career as an early childhood educator where I was responsible for the planning and implementation of play based, child centred programs for 16 years before then staying home for a few years with my own children.

I spent my first years as an Education Assistant at the Language Development Centre guiding students from Kindy through to year 3. Then enriched my knowledge further at an inclusive education school assisting Kindy and Pre Primary students.

I put great value in helping and supporting others and especially enjoy making connections that build positive, nurturing relationships to foster the wonder of children's learing. My compassion, integrity and respect has always been a big part of who I am, and I treat others as I would like myself or my own children to be treated.

I am thrilled to be a part of the beautiful Spring road community and look forward to stimulating the childrens interests and curiousity to encourage a love for learning.
